Does the LOLIWARE® straw contain plastics or harmful chemicals?

No. The LOLIWARE straw is seaweed-derived and made from 100% food-grade (FDA-approved or Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) materials.

How do I dispose of a LOLIWARE® straw?

It is best to compost the LOLIWARE straw after use. The used straw can be placed in the compost heap in your garden at home and/or in designated public compost (food waste) bins.

Is the LOLIWARE® straw safe for our ocean?

Yes. The composition of the LOLIWARE straw is primarily seaweed and all natural, food-grade ingredients. If a straw unfortunately makes its way to the ocean, it poses no harm to marine life. However, we do not advocate for placing any sort of trash in the ocean at any time.

If I dispose of a LOLIWARE® straw in traditional garbage, will it still biodegrade?

Yes. The LOLIWARE straw breaks down naturally in all environments, including in traditional waste streams. That said, the (carbon) circularity of our products is best maintained when they are composted and converted into a nutrient-rich material for soil.

What certifications does LOLIWARE® have?

Does LOLIWARE® use wild seaweed?

No. LOLIWARE utilizes ocean-farmed seaweed - we never use seaweed harvested from sensitive coastal ecosystems.

Where is LOLIWARE® seaweed sourced?

To ensure the seaweed used in our products is Blue Planet Safe, we only source our seaweed from suppliers who use sustainable farming & harvesting practices. We also assess all potential suppliers for their supply chain resilience, annual yield, the carbon footprint of production, and the socio-economic benefits the supplier provides to local communities. Is farming seaweed bad for the ocean or marine ecosystem?

No. Actually, quite the opposite. Seaweed farming restores our oceans, requiring no freshwater, fertilizers, or chemicals, and is regenerative and restorative to the local coastal ecosystem. It improves coastal shoreline health and water quality, provides healthy habitats for marine life and supports local economies.
