Fig & Hazelnut Sundae




12 dried black mission figs

1/2 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup water

pinch of salt

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

vanilla ice cream

toasted hazelnuts

whipped cream

To make the fig sauce, combine the figs, brown sugar, water, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla in a medium size saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer then remove from the heat and let sit for 10 minutes. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.

To make the sundae, layer scoops of vanilla ice cream with the fig sauce in a Tart Cherry cup and top with whipped cream and toasted hazelnuts.
